Heavy equipment rental service company, PT Transkon Jaya Tbk, has secured a new contract worth more than IDR 25 billion for the rental of 30 light buses (mini buses) from a mining company in North Sulawesi. “Although these light buses are newly offered in 2021, the demand is significant,” said Alexander Syauta, Corporate Secretary of Transkon Jaya in Balikpapan.
Similar requests have also come from South Kalimantan for use in mining areas. The capacity of these buses is significant, providing both ample seating and comfort. The mini buses can accommodate up to 15 seats, leaving a little space for luggage. Such mini buses are popular in East Kalimantan, serving as transportation to and from Sepinggan Airport from Samarinda, Bontang, or Sangatta. For transportation needs in mining areas with off-road terrain, the buses can be modified into 4×4 vehicles.
Standard amenities such as air conditioning and a minimum 2-point safety belt on each seat are also installed. According to Syauta, Transkon always strives to meet the increasing demand for comfort and safety from customers, in line with occupational health and safety standards (K3). “We ensure that the quality of service provided exceeds customer expectations,” said Syauta.
In addition to operations in North Sulawesi and South Kalimantan, Transkon has expanded its services to Halmahera-North Maluku and Papua. Its customers are mainly mining companies and plantations. The company, headquartered in Manggar, East Balikpapan, is particularly known for renting 4-wheel-drive double-cabin cars.
Transkon complements its services with maintenance and repair services for the units it rents out. In August 2020, Transkon became the first company from East Kalimantan to go public, offering its shares on the Indonesia Stock Exchange with the stock code TRJA. From the initial public offering (IPO), Transkon successfully raised fresh funds of IDR 93.75 billion.
